CORE 4 / R2L
READY 2 LEARN
At Borough, our ‘Ready to Learn’ principles apply to the learning that takes place within and beyond the classroom. To help us remember in class, we have some ‘classroom rules’ which remind u
s of how we might appear to be ‘Ready to Learn’ in each lesson.
What does it look like when we are ready to learn?
· ORGANISED WITH EQUIPMENT
· ASKS AND ANSWERS QUESTIONS
· ACTIVE LISTENING
· ALWAYS TRYING
· PRIDE IN PRESENTATION
· COMPLETES HOMEWORK

CORE 4
The Core 4 will form part of our R2L expectations, which should be consistent across every lesson and during transitions. Within KS3, in particular, there was some variation last year, which we want to avoid. Sharper and more consistent routines will allow departments and class teachers to ensure that teaching and learning remain the priority in every lesson.ENTRY ROUTINE
Students are greeted by the teacher at the door and enter the classroom calmly and in silence.
Exercise books and equipment are placed on desks.
Bags are placed on the floor underneath the table or chair.
Students begin by writing the title and date, then complete the Do Now activity in silence.
Students then move on to the extension task or review the previous lesson's content and key terminology.
