Students at Haberdashers' Borough Academy celebrate outstanding A Level results!

Sixth formers at Haberdashers' Borough Academy are celebrating a superb first set of A Level results for their inaugural cohort this summer, with nearly a quarter all entries awarded A*-A.

Across the cohort:

23% of entries achieved A*–A
14% students secured three A grades or better (AAA+), with 20% achieving AAB or better
80% of students have secured places on University Courses for September, with 43% holding offers from prestigious Russell Group Universities. Others are studying for degree based apprenticeships.

There have been some excellent subject performances too:

English Literature – 60% A*-B
Art and Design – 100% A*-B

Geography - 67% A*-B
History – 70% A*-B
Sociology – 78% A*-C
Further Mathematics – 70% A*-C

Every subject is represented at degree level:

20% of students are pursing a degree in the STEM subjects – including Maths, Science and Computing.
23% are pursuing Humanities related courses including Politics, International Relations, Law and the Social Sciences.
11% are pursuing courses in the Arts – including Fine Art, Interior Design and Film Studies.
11% are studying Economics and Business Management;

A number of students achieved exceptional results:

Sebastian achieved A* A* A A, and will be reading Mathematics at UCL
Wulfie achieved A* A* A and will be reading Physics at Imperial College London.
Aedan achieved A* A* A and will be reading Mathematics at the University of Bristol
Isaac achieved A* A* A and will be reading Law at the University of Bristol.
Fia achieved A* A* A and will be reading Politics at the London School of Economics.
Roman achieved A* A A and will be reading Mathematics at the University of Bath
Henry archived A* AA and will be reading English Literature at the University of Warwick
Ejona achieved AAA and will be reading Politics at UCL.

We are delighted with this inaugural set of results for a very special cohort of young people. Our founding Year 13 cohort have set the bar high, with strong results which are opening doors to some of the UK’s leading universities and apprenticeships. We are incredibly proud of you all.

More than results

Success at Borough Academy Sixth Form is about more than examination results. Students benefit from a wide-ranging programme of personal development, careers education and enrichment opportunities designed to help them develop the knowledge, confidence and skills they need for life beyond Sixth Form.

Through Habs Aspire, the Trust-wide mentoring programme, all Sixth Form students have the opportunity to work with an industry mentor. This gives students valuable insight into different careers, opportunities to build professional networks and the chance to learn from people working across a wide range of sectors.

Year 12 students also take part in a weekly personal development programme, with opportunities including careers talks and an elective curriculum designed to broaden their experience beyond their academic subjects. Electives have included driving theory, business and entrepreneurship, debating, sport, introductory Latin and DJ-ing.

Students can also take part in the Livery Awards, complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and access support to study a community language.

Together, these opportunities are designed to ensure that students leave Borough not only with strong academic and vocational qualifications, but also with the experiences, skills and confidence to take their next steps.
