Haberdashers' Musician of the Year - Borough Academy Winner!

This annual event was held at Haberdasher’ Hall on the 8th February. All 8 Haberdashers’ Schools, including the Independent Schools, were represented and the standard was extremely high. For the first time, a pupil attending one of the Haberdashers’ state schools won, our very own Jaden in year 10! He performed on drums, alongside a professional double bassist and pianist, the Jazz classic, ‘Caravan’ by Duke Ellington. Jaden was the first to perform and began with an improvised drum solo that showcased his exceptional technical and musical ability before the rest of the jazz trio joined, where Jaden proved himself to be drummer who listens and responds to the musical conversations going on around him. All the other competitors were 6th formers but as one of the judges put it ‘Jaden was the one who could happily be part of any professional ensemble’. A massive congratulations to Jaden who fully embodies our Borough values.
