Celebrating our best-ever GCSE results

Students at Haberdashers' Borough Academy are celebrating the school's strongest GCSE results to date, with outstanding outcomes across a wide range of subjects.

GCSE Results Day 2026

Borough continues to perform above national averages on key accountability measures, with a significant increase in the proportion of students achieving both Grade 5+ and Grade 7+ benchmarks. Overall, 56% of all grades awarded were at Grade 5 or above, while more than 20% of grades achieved the highest attainment threshold of Grade 7 or above.

Performance across core subjects was particularly impressive. In English Literature, 64% of grades were awarded at Grade 5 or above, with 26% achieving Grades 7-9. Mathematics also delivered strong results, with 53% of entries awarded Grade 5 or higher, while 52% of students achieved a Grade 5+ in Science.

Humanities subjects enjoyed exceptional success. History achieved 69% of grades at Grade 5+, Geography 63%, and Religious Studies an outstanding 79%. Students also performed strongly across the school’s open curriculum subjects, including Art, Photography, Digital iMedia and Modern Foreign Languages.

These achievements follow an equally successful set of A Level results announced last week. Strong attainment across both GCSE and A Level programmes has enabled students to secure places at a range of highly regarded destinations, with 45% of the A Level cohort receiving offers from Russell Group universities.

Impressive individual achievements

Several students achieved exceptional individual results. Special congratulations are extended to:

• Vasilisa: 6 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8 and 2 Grade 7s
• Aleeza: 4 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s
• Rahaj: 5 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8 and 1 Grade 7
• Pixie: 1 Grade 9, 5 Grade 8s, 1 Grade 7 and 1 Grade 6
