Library Book Overdue Policy

Books can be borrowed from the library for three weeks. The due date will be clearly stamped inside the front cover of the book.  If you need to keep the book for longer, you can renew it either online or in person at the library desk.

If you are doing this before school or after school visit the Atrium library.

It is very important to return your books on time so that others can enjoy them too.

Here's what happens if a book is overdue:

Less than 7 days overdue:

  • Please immediately return or renew the book.
  • Your book borrowing privileges will be suspended.
  • Your parents and Head of Year will be informed.

More than 7 days overdue:

  • You will receive a detention for 'persistent inadequate equipment'.

If the book is still overdue after this point:

You will be charged the purchase cost of the book to cover its replacement.

Once you have either:

  • Paid for a replacement book, or
  • Returned the overdue book

Your library account will be returned to normal, and you can borrow books again.

To avoid penalties:

  • Return books within 3 weeks or renew them.
  • Respond immediately if you receive an overdue notice.
  • Communicate with the library staff if you have any issues.
