How to apply

Closing date for applications for starting Year 7 in September 2027/28 is 31st October 2026.

Southwark Council coordinates applications for secondary school places. If you live in Southwark, you should apply online through Southwark Council and list Borough Academy as one of your preferences.

If you live outside Southwark, you should apply through the local authority where you live, even if you wish to apply for a school in Southwark.

You can name up to six schools on your application.

The application process for September 2027 entry will open in September 2026.

Please check the Southwark Council website for the confirmed application deadline and other key dates.

It is important to submit your application by the published deadline. Late applications may reduce the likelihood of being offered a place at one of your preferred schools.

Year 7 2026 Intake

Applications for Year 7 entry in September 2026 closed on 31st October 2025.

If you have received an offer for a school you placed as a lower preference on your application form, or a school you did not name on your application, you may have been added to the relevant waiting list.

If you are still seeking a Year 7 place for September 2026, please contact Southwark Council for information about your application and available places.

Admissions and Waiting Lists

Borough Academy is responsible for its own admission arrangements, while Southwark Council coordinates applications for secondary school places.

Waiting lists are managed in accordance with the school's published admissions criteria. A child's position on a waiting list can change as other applications are received and places become available.

Our Open Events are a great opportunity for prospective pupils and their families to visit Borough Academy, meet staff and pupils, see our facilities and find out more about the school.

Attending an Open Event is not part of the admissions process and does not affect your child's application or priority for a school place.
